FIRST IMPRESSIONS-CHANEL NAIL POLISH

CHANEL LE VERNIS NAIL COLOUR | FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Good evening Little Ones, I've just settled down from sweating profusely at the gym ... Arm days are the absolute worst! Maybe because I have next to no arm muscles, but we are getting there Little Ones, slowly but surely!
Anyhow, it's been a minute since I've done a first impressions, and never before have I written about nail polish, simply because I stick to the same old brands ... But Chris treated me randomly to Chanel nail polish! I've never owned such an expensive polish before, but let's dive into application, longevity, is it worth it?
If that's something that sounds exciting, scroll below!
To ensure you are keeping up to date with my content, click here! Without any further or do, let’s crack on with the first impressions!

THE PACKAGING:

Chanel, this is what I'm talking about ... I know I dug at you a little on my previous blog post, but here you are sticking to traditional routes, glass bottles, can I get an amen!
This has to be the most beautiful nail polish component I've ever laid my eyes upon, and I've even had the pleasure to witness Christian Louboutin's creations; but simplicity overall wins.
Yes, having a nail polish that could slay your enemies is fantastic, but stay classy with Chanel, the overly bold lid, with the ever so iconic Chanel logo remains beautiful.
The design remains consistent throughout, for example, the lid screams bulky as well as the square glass container that follows.
Detail is key, Chanel evidently keeps that in the back of their mind as they make their smallest products feel like a treasure for each consumer.
Unlike other nail polish, Chanel decided to remain innovative by positioning the phrase, 'le vernis' on the centre of the bottle, it actually translates to nail polish; some of which other make-up companies wouldn't do.
Seeing that Chanel was founded in Paris, and remains a French brand, I adore the fact that they continue to stay within their routes.
With their entire nail polish range, all the colours shine beautifully, there is so much space provided, there is no need for prolonged synonym for perfect, plain and simple, just how I like it.

THE PRODUCT:

Where to start? Maybe the shade name? Rouge red, now application time! Firstly, the brush provided is fantastic, small enough to fit into the cuticles, but big enough to apply an even distribution of product.
When I initially applied the polish I was shocked by how much pigment followed, it wasn't streaky, didn't bubble and went on evenly.
But, with such a high price point that's what I expected!
The colour is true to what it looks like in the bottle, (I know some products portray one colour, but translate differently when applied to the nail).
Which is fantastic! If you are considering what colour to purchase at least you know what you are getting yourself into, no cat-fishing going on here.
I can't fault the colour, absolutely enchanting, such a classy bright red ... Makes me feel powerful and sexy!
Once I've painted my nails, I feel like I can achieve anything and everything ... This red makes me feel and act confident!
Although, here is the kicker ... Goes on like a dream, colour is dreamy, but this takes such a long time to dry!
I don't mind painting my nails and waiting an hour, when I normally do my nails I'm watching a film, that way I give it more than enough time, so I can get on with the rest of my day.
But no ... This nail polish proceeded to anger me! After waiting an hour, and having applied only 2 thin layers I thought it was time to move on.
I barely touched the corner, and smudge city ... Believe me, I have patience, but that's where I draw the line.
I have places to go Chanel, stop taking my time away by forcing me to wait more than an hour to let my nails dry!
It took a total of 2 hours before I felt confident doing anything relatively challenging with my hands ... Which is so frustrating.
Finally, once this beauty has dried down the finish is phenomenal, shiny healthy looking nails, the amount of compliments I received, "where did you get your nails done"?, "Such a beautiful colour, what brand is it"?

THE PRICE:

It all comes down to a hearty price of, £22 ... Damn, I've never spent this much money on a nail polish, and I still haven't, as this was a random act of kindness from my beloved fiance.
Would I personally spend £22 ... I think I would yes, due to the fact after wearing this nail polish for a couple of days, it still hasn't chipped, the colour is gorgeous, (you could get away with 1 application).
The drying situation is throwing me off, but I used to get my nails done once a month, that averagely cost around, £30-35 each month, whereas if I spend £22 on one nail polish, I'm sorted for a couple of months.
It's all up to you and what you want to spend your money on, for me personally it's worth the cash, but if it's not for you; there are some great shades by Essie.
If you are interested in this particular product click the link below, saves you from searching the internet.
I hope you liked this read, I sure loved writing it! Enjoy the rest of the weekend while it lasts.
I love you all very much, I will see you again tomorrow with another photo shoot explanation!
Remember to stay safe and stay tuned Little Ones! :) x x x

ADVICE | GETTING OVER FEARS | HOW YOU CAN GET OVER IT

GETTING OVER MY FEAR OF THE DENTIST:

Snapchat: amymrmcguire
Email: missamymcguire@hotmail.com

Good morning Little Ones! This year I have set myself several goals ... And I want to tweak some of them, I want to post more on my blog, instead of three days a week, I'm thinking everyday? I don't know if I will keep up with this, but I saw how much I posted in 2017; and needless to say... I was utterly disappointed. Only 17 posts last year ... How disgraceful. I can inform you, that's not happening this year! At least I can guarantee at LEAST three a week; but I know loads of you adored me posting everyday, some of my content may be boring? But let's see what I can come up with.
Now, without further or do, let's get on with today's post! Getting over the fear of the dentist!

BACKSTORY:

Just like the majority of you, I'm pretty sure you have a fear of the dentist, and I have mentioned this on my blog before; but I have had horrific experiences at the dentist.
But, just to briefly explain some of my traumatic events: DISCLAIMER IF YOU ARE SCARED DON'T READ THIS SEGMENT.
Where to begin? My dentist was disgusting, EVERY SINGLE TIME I went, she would always comment on how disfigured my teeth were, to the point where I would cry hysterically.
I literally couldn't help it, I needed braces and I couldn't get them because my jaw needed to grow; I was stuck with teeth I hated, my biggest insecurity ... Her taunting me really didn't help, (obviously).
Unfortunately, this was the nicest part of my visit ... The worst experience I had from this specific dentist, was when I was getting a filling re-done, she drilled behind the WRONG tooth, to which I couldn't brush properly behind, within a couple of weeks I suffered extricating pain due to an infection settling in.
She mentioned that it was HER fault, and issued me antibiotics for a week. It was then time to visit the dentist, she gave me three rounds of anastetic ... She brushed her metal tool against my tooth and I was screaming in pain. The infection still hadn't cleared, it was consuming the anastetic, I FELT EVERYTHING.
Instead of giving me more antibiotics to clear the infection, she still went ahead with the tooth extraction. It took 5 nurses to hold me down ... By the way, my mother was in the same room, shaking with fear and anger.
Eventually, I heard a crack ... Alongside with the taste of blood in my mouth, when I clambered up, blood poured from above, of which I cried and shook with fear.
Needless to say, this was the breaking point ... I now visit a different dentist? Private, do you blame me?

You are all probably wondering, 'Amy, how can you get over the fear of the dentist, after all this', believe me it's happening. Let me tell you how.

GETTING OVER IT:

Believe me when I say this, I NEVER thought this was going to be possible until my recent visit at the dentist a week ago. As mentioned previously, I have a new dentist, private because I gave up with the NHS ... They had failed me too many times with my teeth alone.
When it was time, I was chilling in the waiting room ... Anxious, tears forming in my eyes, fearing what was about to take place.
Eventually they called me name ... My legs trembled to the point where I nearly collapsed, I saw my dentist, and said, "I'm petrified".
I told him everything that had happened, and he was repulsed. He explained what he was going to do, (which I never had), and stated that he was going to take his time.
He was so gentle, everything he did he described, and if he saw me freaking out he stopped until I calmed down. Lucky for me, there was a television above me, which really did aid the anxiety.
The appointment totalled to 20 minutes, and there was nothing wrong with my teeth.
Normally there is always something, not because I don't look after my oral hygiene; but because with me being born so premature, my teeth didn't form correctly.
After such a positive experience at the dentist, I can now associate something great with something I thought was terrifying.
Changing perception is key, I think I will still be nervous in six months time, but no where near as bad. I'm so proud of myself, for being brave, and being able to face a fear, I have obtained since I can remember.
If you've had traumatic experiences like me, if not worse, you can get over it, first and foremost, you need to find a dentist which not only explains everything; but is patient and caring towards you. Another thing, you need to get on with them, if you can't have a giggle here and there; it's going to be hard to build a great relationship with them; which is what you need.
Especially if you don't have someone there to support you on your visit, luckily enough for me, I had my fiance with me, which I'm so grateful for.

Little Ones, this is now the end of the blog post! I hope you enjoyed this one, just a tiny bit of advice? It's not the longest story, but I will update you every time I visit the dentist, as it's a growing process; I feel confident that it can only get better.
This applies to everyone out there with the same phobia ... I'm 20 and I still need someone there to hold my hand. Is that embarrassing? Maybe, but I have my reasons, just like all of you.
I love you all so very much, and I will see you tomorrow! Let me know what you want to read, or I'll do what I fancy! Remember to stay safe and stay tuned! :) x x x

MODELLING

HOW I STARTED MODELLING:

Instagram:amymrmcguire

Email: missamymcguire@hotmail.com

Good afternoon Little Ones! How have you all been? Third blog post this week! I feel so proud that I finally have a routine involved with my Blog! If you don't already know, I will be posting every: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, that's the aim I'm sticking to, I need to stay consistent. Any how, let's move onto today's blog post! I've received a tone of messages regarding: how I got into modelling, do I still do it, is it your main job? All those questions will be answered today! So, without further or do, let's get reading.

THE BEGINNING:

We all start somewhere, but for me, I never had the initial idea of modelling, I'm 5ft4 ... Which automatically determines never getting into the industry. Any how, I remember sitting in town, and my fiance suggested taking photographs of me, (which I never did)-I was too shy and timid for anyone to do that.
But I felt great that day, the sun was shining, I was rocking out Chris's sunglasses, and decided to strike a few poses. We only took a couple, he showed me the outcomes; and I didn't think I looked half-bad, it then sprung to me, why don't I try modelling, it doesn't have to be serious, I could get into contact with a few photographs and see what they think. Chris thought that it would be a great way to boost my confidence in relation to my physical appearance, and overall diminish a section of my anxiety.
For the first few weeks, I kept Chris taking my photos, as I was comfortable with him, after that it was time for my first shoot. I had learnt what poses looked best on my physique, and what I felt comfortable with.
June 2017 was my first London shoot with a professional photographer, who I immediately felt at ease with, he was kind, and exceedingly easy to talk to; which helped when I showed him what look I was going for. At first I was nervous, as I had no idea what he was thinking, but he stated that despite my height; I had great potential. You could say that he was being nice, but he wasn't paid for this shoot, it wasn't like he was getting a large sum of money, he was genuine.

IS IT MY JOB?

As much as I enjoy modelling, I can't see myself doing it full-time. Simply because I have other personal hobbies I relish more, maybe in the near future; but I want to create something, instead of having my picture taken. That's not saying that I'm stopping, as I still do enjoy it, but I feel that I need to become more confident in my own skin, before a sign a contract.
I know many of you like the images I post on Instagram, and to be honest, knowing that you love them, makes me feel so content. I'm so pleased to know that I have over  5000 followers due to my modelling pictures!
Like I've mentioned previously, when I feel comfortable with myself I may look into going into modelling full-time; as I believe it will help me grow, and love myself as a person. Not being vein, but loving yourself is the most important thing you can do, I just haven't got there yet.

WHAT WAS MY FAVOURITE SHOOT?

This is the easiest question to answer, without a doubt Rome was my favourite photo-shoot! I initially went there on holiday with Chris, and I managed to get into contact with a photographer that was working, he came to the apartment we were staying in, and proceeded to take some photographs of me! I was so honoured to work with him, and he managed to capture angles of me, I never thought of. He was extremely patient and understanding, and done a perfect job.

DO I HAVE ANYTHING PLANNED?

I do indeed! I have made arraignments with several photographs in London throughout the year, and I can't wait to show you the final outcomes! It's nothing secretive, I just need to set a final date for my first shoot of the year in January/February time; which will be with the same photographer I worked with, back in June last year. I have several mood boards planned, but they correlate with the time of year I'm shooting. Besides, I want an element of surprise for you lovely lot!

Anyhow, this concludes today's blog post, I hope you enjoyed this little read, something very different from what I normally post. But I wanted something other hand a product review! I do have things cooking in the kitchen, so stay tuned for that! Coming later next week!
If you want to see modelling updates, or what a dedicated post on a shoot I've participated in, then please do let me know, and I will do that for you.
Also, please inform me if you want me to write something specific, leave a comment down below, or utilise my social media handles.
Please enjoy the rest of your day, and I will see you in the next blog post! Remember to stay safe, and stay tuned! :) x x x

Advice on people

Fake Friends

If you want to keep up to date with that I do on a daily basis follow me on my social media above, and I'll be sure to follow you right back :).

Good evening! I know it's very late, but this has been toying on my mind for a couple of weeks. I thought that it was about time to finally let it out and tell you what I've experienced in the hope that you can relate; and that I can help people; because you aren't alone ... People get treated like this and it sucks.
If you want to read my personal experience on fake friends, and how to deal with it have a little read below :).

If you want to read about other advice click here!

What is a fake friend?

  • Fundamentally, from my personal experience a fake friend is someone who isn't always there for you. For example, if you are having a bad time at work, school, home etc. they support you when they can be bothered, if not at all. They are "too busy" to deal with your problems; which could be the case; but a TRUE friend would give you time out of their day to make sure that you are happy and healthy.
  • A fake friend is someone who won't make time for you ... You are always free and wanting to see them, but they always have something going on; they have to walk their dog, they suddenly aren't feeling well, they have made other plans and forgot etc. Which again could be the case, but they always have an excuse to why they never hang out with you. I would know, I was trying to make arrangements with someone for nearly a year.
  • A fake friend is someone that pretends to understand you, for example they will sit there and pretend they are interested in what you have to say, for them to talk about their issues of their successes and rub it in your face. This is one of the most hurtful aspects, simply because you believe in yourself that you can not only trust them, but think that they actually care and respect you; when in fact it's all a lie.
  • They use you. A fake friend will use you for: your time or money, for example, if they are bored, or they've been cancelled on they will suddenly contact you out of the blue and ask if you can meet up. They are using you for your time as they know that you will come running. I know from my personal experience this was always the case; I would message my friend, constantly reminding them if they were free; or when they would like to see me; but it was always, "I'm super busy" ... But they would change their mind a few hours later if their other plans failed.
  • Fake friends lie to you, this has happened to me on so many occasions, for example if I had wanted to see said person, they would use the common excuse, "I'm super busy", "I'm at work", for me to find them on social media chilling in their back-garden ... Oh yeah, "super busy" alright.

My experience:

In my 19 years of existence I have come into contact with MANY fake friends. It's something that happens to everyone unfortunately. In regards to my experience it's been an emotional  roller coaster, I've had my ups and downs, being ignored for months, and then for them to come back into my life like nothing happened. Some people have really messed me up, and think that it's ok because I'm "nice". Taking advantage of somebody because they hold a lot of patience is cruel and upsetting. On the other hand, it has taught me life lessons. One being, be careful who you trust, for example I had a really close friend, I thought the world of her, I told her pretty much everything about me; and she left without a word or trace. I learnt quickly that everything she told me was a lie, if she cared about me that much she wouldn't of left. I learnt that I have to be careful who I trust; I'm an open book I will talk about anything; but personal details about my life stay enclosed to people I really love and care about.
In addition to this, I have also learnt to let go, you can't expect everyone in your life to stay, you have to be prepared that some people do leave and you have no idea why. Don't blame yourself because it's not you it's them. They are the one mistreating you, you don't deserve this backlash. If someone does leave, don't be disheartened, remember it was them and not you; if you know deep down that you did nothing then don't blame yourself, it's not worth the sleepless nights and panic attacks; believe me I learnt the hard way; some things happen for a reason. And your reason being that you can find a true and proper friend :).

How do deal with it?

When I was going through this my first port of call was to question myself. For example, I would draw a spider diagram, put questions in the middle and pin point what I thought was the route cause. The questions were as followed:
  • What happened for them to go off me?
  • What have I done?
  • What haven't I done?
  • What are they like?
  • Why have I been making all the effort and not them?
If you can answer these questions with confidence and analyse them clearly, and you come to the conclusion that it's not you it's them ... Then you are right. You do not need to blame yourself because it's not your fault that they are behaving in such a cruel and selfish manor.
I cried. A LOT. It's healthy to cry and let your feelings out, you have been betrayed by someone you thought cared about you; you deserve to cry! Don't be scared to either, I was at first because I thought I was being ridiculous but I wasn't. I wrote down my feelings and spoke to my mum and Chris. After explaining the entire situations on both sides they reassured me that it wasn't me, it was them and I should stop putting so much time and effort into that person who isn't worth it.
Little one's you are not the route cause of their behaviour, they can only change when they want to; so stop blaming yourself because it;s not your fault. I've stopped blaming myself, I've stopped crying and caring for that person, because you are so much better than them :).
If you have a fake friend in your life and they have not left, then leave then and give them a CLEAR explanation of why. That way they are not left in the dark, and they can reflect on their bad behaviour and change in the future.

Thank you for reading this blog post, I really hope this helped; I know for a fact that this would have helped me a few months ago; because I was going out of my mind. If you need any reassurance or comfort I am always here to talk to, you can use my social media below or personal email to contact me; whatever you are comfortable with :)
I love you all so very much and I will see you tomorrow morning with my first give away blog post :) Stay tuned and stay safe :) x x x

Vegan potato salad

Vegan potato salad, with chili sauce and hummus:

If you want to keep up to date with that I do on a daily basis follow me on my social media above, and I'll be sure to follow you right back :).

Hello! Hope you are all doing well, I thought that it was about time to introduce you to my favourite vegan meal; this is what has saved me! It's super healthy and damn right delicious! I made this on the spot when I was super hungry and it goes well with the pasta I made here! I just hoped for the best. It turned out great! :D
It's really simple and easy to make, if you would like to know this secret, look below and create :)

Ingredients

  • 50 grams peas
  • 25 grams sweetcorn
  • 1 garlic glove
  • 2 shallots
  • chili spices or one chili (whichever you prefer)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 50 grams new potatoes (or whatever potatoes you want, I just picked these as they fit perfectly in my on-the-go tub)
  • Sabra roasted pepper hummus
  • chili sauce
  • Extra virgin olive oil
(You can make your own chili sauce and hummus, but I wanted to show you the simple way first, we don't want to make it too complicated yet) :)

With the measurements you don't have to stick to this exact amount, go by what your body is telling you :)

STEPS ON HOW TO MAKE THIS:

  1. Boil 300ml of water and place in pan;
  2. Put your potatoes in the pan and use the salt and pepper to season the water, (this leaves a subtle but nice flavour on the potatoes);
  3. Prepare you shallot and garlic, cut them up to the size you want;
  4. In a small pan, put boiling water in and place the peas and sweetcorn in there;
  5. Combine the garlic and shallots to the pea and sweetcorn mixture; add the extra virgin olive oil; chili spices, salt and pepper and stir;
  6. Place the vegetables into your desired container;
  7. Take out your potatoes and poke them with a folk, (they should be soft); drizzle the oil over them and shake in pan;
  8. Add the potatoes to the vegetables in your desired container;
  9.  Put the hummus and chili sauce on the side for dipping and flavour;
  10. ENJOY!

Why these ingredients?

Peas:
Peas are filled with Vitamin C, this helps build the immune system and makes it stronger over time, this will prevent you from feeling ill. As well as this, peas are also filled with B6, this will stimulate co-enzymatic activities, this entails protecting the immune system and having great effects on the metabolism, (speed it up).

Garlic:
Depending on how we prepare our garlic depends on how much nutrients we get out of it; this is why I have suggested either: cutting or crushing. This increases the enzymes within the garlic, these enzymes can prevent cancer.

Shallot:
Shallots is a great antioxidant, they also contain low fat saturation, this won't clog up your arteries, as it reduces cholesterol, in comparison to a normal red or green onion, this is so much better for your mental and physical health.

Thank you for reading this post, hope you enjoy and recreate, stay tuned little ones :) x x x
