MODELLING

HOW I STARTED MODELLING:

Good afternoon Little Ones! How have you all been? Third blog post this week! I feel so proud that I finally have a routine involved with my Blog! If you don't already know, I will be posting every: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, that's the aim I'm sticking to, I need to stay consistent. Any how, let's move onto today's blog post! I've received a tone of messages regarding: how I got into modelling, do I still do it, is it your main job? All those questions will be answered today! So, without further or do, let's get reading.

THE BEGINNING:

We all start somewhere, but for me, I never had the initial idea of modelling, I'm 5ft4 ... Which automatically determines never getting into the industry. Any how, I remember sitting in town, and my fiance suggested taking photographs of me, (which I never did)-I was too shy and timid for anyone to do that.
But I felt great that day, the sun was shining, I was rocking out Chris's sunglasses, and decided to strike a few poses. We only took a couple, he showed me the outcomes; and I didn't think I looked half-bad, it then sprung to me, why don't I try modelling, it doesn't have to be serious, I could get into contact with a few photographs and see what they think. Chris thought that it would be a great way to boost my confidence in relation to my physical appearance, and overall diminish a section of my anxiety.
For the first few weeks, I kept Chris taking my photos, as I was comfortable with him, after that it was time for my first shoot. I had learnt what poses looked best on my physique, and what I felt comfortable with.
June 2017 was my first London shoot with a professional photographer, who I immediately felt at ease with, he was kind, and exceedingly easy to talk to; which helped when I showed him what look I was going for. At first I was nervous, as I had no idea what he was thinking, but he stated that despite my height; I had great potential. You could say that he was being nice, but he wasn't paid for this shoot, it wasn't like he was getting a large sum of money, he was genuine.

IS IT MY JOB?

As much as I enjoy modelling, I can't see myself doing it full-time. Simply because I have other personal hobbies I relish more, maybe in the near future; but I want to create something, instead of having my picture taken. That's not saying that I'm stopping, as I still do enjoy it, but I feel that I need to become more confident in my own skin, before a sign a contract.
I know many of you like the images I post on Instagram, and to be honest, knowing that you love them, makes me feel so content. I'm so pleased to know that I have over  5000 followers due to my modelling pictures!
Like I've mentioned previously, when I feel comfortable with myself I may look into going into modelling full-time; as I believe it will help me grow, and love myself as a person. Not being vein, but loving yourself is the most important thing you can do, I just haven't got there yet.

WHAT WAS MY FAVOURITE SHOOT?

This is the easiest question to answer, without a doubt Rome was my favourite photo-shoot! I initially went there on holiday with Chris, and I managed to get into contact with a photographer that was working, he came to the apartment we were staying in, and proceeded to take some photographs of me! I was so honoured to work with him, and he managed to capture angles of me, I never thought of. He was extremely patient and understanding, and done a perfect job.

DO I HAVE ANYTHING PLANNED?

I do indeed! I have made arraignments with several photographs in London throughout the year, and I can't wait to show you the final outcomes! It's nothing secretive, I just need to set a final date for my first shoot of the year in January/February time; which will be with the same photographer I worked with, back in June last year. I have several mood boards planned, but they correlate with the time of year I'm shooting. Besides, I want an element of surprise for you lovely lot!

Anyhow, this concludes today's blog post, I hope you enjoyed this little read, something very different from what I normally post. But I wanted something other hand a product review! I do have things cooking in the kitchen, so stay tuned for that! Coming later next week!
If you want to see modelling updates, or what a dedicated post on a shoot I've participated in, then please do let me know, and I will do that for you.
Also, please inform me if you want me to write something specific, leave a comment down below, or utilise my social media handles.

Advice-starting a blog

Starting a blog

If you want to keep up to date with that I do on a daily basis follow me on my social media above, and I'll be sure to follow you right back :).

Good evening Little ones! I'm here again! How have you been? I've been doing some essays and hanging out with my boyfriend. I was also testing a product that I'm going to write a review tomorrow for you guys! Any how, this topic was pondering my mind, so I thought I would sit down and keep it real with you :).
If you are interested in starting a blog then do it! Ignore the haters and do you Little ones! If you have a passion about writing then go and do it; be happy :).
If you are just starting out then give this blog a little read, it might help :).

If you want to read other advice blog posts, click here!

Planning:

First and foremost, if you are starting a blog you need to plan a hell of a lot! You also need to dedicate your time into a blog, posting every month of every year won't do it; you need to be honest give your target audience what they want.
In regards to planing you need to do the following:
  • What are you going to name it?
    When you start a blog you need to name it after something that relates to your writing, or something that you want people to remember you by. So when they read the title they will associate it with you. When I was starting out, I wanted my title to be my name, Miss Rose McGuire. I picked rose from one of my middle names as I liked it more than my first name. Also because I like roses, so interlinking flowers with my blog was a win win situation.
  • What are you going to write about?
    Just like every other blog you need a topic to write about, it can vary from one specific topic, or numerous ones. For example, my blog obtains various sectors which include: vegan and non-vegan recipes, reviews, advice and daily life. You don't have to do this though, if you just wanted a blog solely based on food then do be it. Do you Little ones!
  •   Target audience:Who is your target audience? What will your content attract? You have to think and analyse the situation. Simply because if you want your demographic to be the younger generation (10-15), writing about dated trends, or 'how to write a report' isn't going to grab their attention. It would work for people heading to University but not the kids. Research what the younger generation like, get their opinions; that way if you are giving them content that they have an interest in then they will read what you have to say. In my perspective, my target audience is VERY broad, simply because my blog obtains so many categories anyone would enjoy it.
  • How often are you going to post?
    Get this into your mind QUICKLY! If you are going to put SOME effort into a blog post then forget the entire idea, simply because if you are gaining an audience and you completely disappear for months on end ... All the hard work you did to achieve your following is gone. But, if you have a dedicated time schedule. for example, writing a blog post once a week then stick to it. As your crowd will have something to look forward to :).
  •  What is it going to look like?
    Profoundly, when I look for blogs I look for quality content, and yes that does involve in what it looks like as well. In my opinion a professional blog has to: have the same font, no spelling mistakes, colour scheme matches, great photographs, typography. Everything you produce has to look presentable. When it comes to posting my blog post I ALWAYS make sure that my grammar and spelling is on fleek, that my images are in line and that my font is the same size accordingly to where it's located on the blog post. What I'm trying to say is that, if you saw something scruffy, would you even want to read it? As you would assume, 'if they can't be bothered to present this correctly, then is their writing incomplete too?
  • Monetising: yay or nay?
    When it comes to posting quality content sometimes you want to turn that hobby into a job. That's how I felt and still feel that way. I treat my blog as another job, evidently because I am constantly updating and writing new blog posts for My Little ones. They ask and I give to them, they are my internet family and I don't want to let them now EVER! So if you have these thoughts and feelings then check out the link below, it's what I use on my blog post and I love it. It helps you earn a bit of cash on the side while doing something that you absolutely love.
    In the nearer future I want to be doing this as my full-time job, I love writing and that's what I want to do with my life :).

This is now the end of the blog post. I really do hope that you enjoyed this one, and I hope that it has helped a lot of you that are just starting out, or is thinking about starting a blog. Just like I mentioned previously, do you! Don't let anyone put you down; if  you have a passion for writing and it makes you happy, don't listen to whatever anyone else tells you. This is your life, live it how you want to :).
I love you all so very much! If you want to know anymore tricks or tips, or just want to ask my some advice on blog posts then please let me know in the comment section down below; or my social media platforms. I will happily answer your questions :).
Stay safe and stay tuned Little ones :) x x x

Advice-anxiety on business trips

How to deal with anxiety on business trips

If you want to keep up to date with that I do on a daily basis follow me on my social media above, and I'll be sure to follow you right back :).

Good morning! How are you today and what are you up to? I thought that I would write a blog post that has been on my mind for a while; it's started to eat me up and I need to get it out of my system. As you may not know I'm on a business trip with EE; I'm doing training for my new job; but this requires to be away from home. With this causes a huge amount of anxiety; of which I would like to share with you, in help that it might give a hand to somebody else who is going through the same situation as me.
If you want to know about my current experience and how I am dealing with it, then have a little read down below :).

If you want to read other advice blog posts, click here!

What comes to my mind:

What I'm about to tell you is from my own mind, some people may think it's stupid or crazy, but since being here I've been worrying about so much. Simply because I am away from home, and I'm alone in this room.
Irrational thoughts:
  • Someone breaking in:
    This was one of the thoughts that came to mind, I was looking around the room and thought, 'what if someone broke in?'
    The arrays of entries they have is unreal, the front door being one. As well as the vents and windows. I know this sounds crazy to some people, but these thoughts come with severe anxiety. I have thought of all the ways in which they can come into my room, and all the ways in which I would escape if anything did happen.
  • How would I escape if anyone did break in?
    When you've been in hotels on your own for a few weeks you have time to think of what to do. If this ever happened to me, I would know before they were in the room, simply because I'm a very aware person. I would create a diversion, to do this I would:
    Turn the shower on and close the door slightly, this would make them appear that I'm in the shower. I would be hiding near the wardrobe; once they clear the door I would run for my life.
    This probably sounds silly to some people, but people with anxiety will know what I'm talking about.
  • Someone always watching me:
    I actually hate the fact that I'm alone in this room, I am always on edge, I can never actually rest or relax. Whenever I am: in the shower, doing my make-up, getting ready for the day or bed; I feel that someone is watching me. Simply because I hate being on my own, even when I'm home alone in my own home I feel on edge and scared.
These are just some of the various thoughts that come to mind, but they are all real. I swear I am not crazy I just want to take extra precaution.

How to deal with it?

This is how I deal with it, these are only my methods, they may not help everyone but if they help at least one person then I am happy with that :).

  • Listen to music:
    I find that listening to music which makes you happy and content really does help, that's what I've been doing these past few weeks, especially when writing this blog post; as I don't want to listen to just the keyboard. Music takes me to another world and makes me extremely happy, it takes my worries away and replaces it with joy and excitement. I'm currently listening to, Hymn for the weekend-Coldplay. This song is so positive! To be perfectly honest their new album, A head full of dreams is powerful and energetic; I'd give it a little listen, only if you like their music, or want to try something new.
  • Watch YouTube:
    When the Wifi connection is good, which is around 1am-5am I will watch some YouTube videos. To be honest with you I can't stay up too late, so 1am isn't happening for me, but I'm an early bird, so around 4 or 5am I will watch a couple of videos. They take my mind off the anxiety and make me relax as well as laugh. I've always been a fan of Shane Dawson, he never fails to make me laugh, so I will always watch him; as well as YouTube drama-it's entertaining, plus it wakes me up a little more.
  • Read a book:
    I have been reading a lot, and that'seven throughout the day, when I find a book I love and adore, chances are  you are not taking it away from me. Some nights where I can't sleep I will read with the lights on. One because I can see what I'm reading, and two because I hate the dark-and yes I sleep with the lights on.
    I find that reading really helps me sleep, and also takes me to another world until I fall asleep. I would highly recommend this method; probably one of my favorites, but that's because I love reading. I am currently reading The Lake House by Kate Morton. I have read this book 3 times and it's still one of my favorite.
  • Skype:
    I would highly recommend this one! When I can Skype my boyfriend or Mum I sure as hell will! I love it when I'm getting ready for bed simply because this is when I'm most anxious, having someone there talking to you really helps; as it creates the illusion that they are in the room with you. For the past few weeks I have been Skyping my boyfriend and Mum for a long period of time; I really miss them,so so much; that's what's making this trip really hard for me. But hopefully Chris will actually be seeing me tonight! I'm so happy and excited, I've missed holding him for a long period of time.
    If you have a partner or close friend bring them along at some point of your journey. It makes it so much easier; if you can't then Skype is always there :).
This is the end of my blog post, thank you so much for reading guys! I hope this has helped someone out there, even if it's only one person; that is one person less having to deal with this. I will be having to write only one blog post a day for 3 more weeks, as I'm going to France next week, and I will be back in training for another week and a bit after that. You just have to be patient with me and this rubbish Wifi. I'm so lucky that I have been able to post 2 blog posts in 2 days!
I will see you again tomorrow with a product review! There won't be any vegan recipes until Saturday, but I will make at least 3 or 4 and post them throughout the week so I have something to give back to you when I'm in France.
I love you all so very much! Stay safe and stay tuned Little ones :) x x x

Advice on people

Fake Friends

Good evening! I know it's very late, but this has been toying on my mind for a couple of weeks. I thought that it was about time to finally let it out and tell you what I've experienced in the hope that you can relate; and that I can help people; because you aren't alone ... People get treated like this and it sucks.
If you want to read my personal experience on fake friends, and how to deal with it have a little read below :).

If you want to read about other advice click here!

What is a fake friend?

  • Fundamentally, from my personal experience a fake friend is someone who isn't always there for you. For example, if you are having a bad time at work, school, home etc. they support you when they can be bothered, if not at all. They are "too busy" to deal with your problems; which could be the case; but a TRUE friend would give you time out of their day to make sure that you are happy and healthy.
  • A fake friend is someone who won't make time for you ... You are always free and wanting to see them, but they always have something going on; they have to walk their dog, they suddenly aren't feeling well, they have made other plans and forgot etc. Which again could be the case, but they always have an excuse to why they never hang out with you. I would know, I was trying to make arrangements with someone for nearly a year.
  • A fake friend is someone that pretends to understand you, for example they will sit there and pretend they are interested in what you have to say, for them to talk about their issues of their successes and rub it in your face. This is one of the most hurtful aspects, simply because you believe in yourself that you can not only trust them, but think that they actually care and respect you; when in fact it's all a lie.
  • They use you. A fake friend will use you for: your time or money, for example, if they are bored, or they've been cancelled on they will suddenly contact you out of the blue and ask if you can meet up. They are using you for your time as they know that you will come running. I know from my personal experience this was always the case; I would message my friend, constantly reminding them if they were free; or when they would like to see me; but it was always, "I'm super busy" ... But they would change their mind a few hours later if their other plans failed.
  • Fake friends lie to you, this has happened to me on so many occasions, for example if I had wanted to see said person, they would use the common excuse, "I'm super busy", "I'm at work", for me to find them on social media chilling in their back-garden ... Oh yeah, "super busy" alright.

My experience:

In my 19 years of existence I have come into contact with MANY fake friends. It's something that happens to everyone unfortunately. In regards to my experience it's been an emotional  roller coaster, I've had my ups and downs, being ignored for months, and then for them to come back into my life like nothing happened. Some people have really messed me up, and think that it's ok because I'm "nice". Taking advantage of somebody because they hold a lot of patience is cruel and upsetting. On the other hand, it has taught me life lessons. One being, be careful who you trust, for example I had a really close friend, I thought the world of her, I told her pretty much everything about me; and she left without a word or trace. I learnt quickly that everything she told me was a lie, if she cared about me that much she wouldn't of left. I learnt that I have to be careful who I trust; I'm an open book I will talk about anything; but personal details about my life stay enclosed to people I really love and care about.
In addition to this, I have also learnt to let go, you can't expect everyone in your life to stay, you have to be prepared that some people do leave and you have no idea why. Don't blame yourself because it's not you it's them. They are the one mistreating you, you don't deserve this backlash. If someone does leave, don't be disheartened, remember it was them and not you; if you know deep down that you did nothing then don't blame yourself, it's not worth the sleepless nights and panic attacks; believe me I learnt the hard way; some things happen for a reason. And your reason being that you can find a true and proper friend :).

How do deal with it?

When I was going through this my first port of call was to question myself. For example, I would draw a spider diagram, put questions in the middle and pin point what I thought was the route cause. The questions were as followed:
  • What happened for them to go off me?
  • What have I done?
  • What haven't I done?
  • What are they like?
  • Why have I been making all the effort and not them?
If you can answer these questions with confidence and analyse them clearly, and you come to the conclusion that it's not you it's them ... Then you are right. You do not need to blame yourself because it's not your fault that they are behaving in such a cruel and selfish manor.
I cried. A LOT. It's healthy to cry and let your feelings out, you have been betrayed by someone you thought cared about you; you deserve to cry! Don't be scared to either, I was at first because I thought I was being ridiculous but I wasn't. I wrote down my feelings and spoke to my mum and Chris. After explaining the entire situations on both sides they reassured me that it wasn't me, it was them and I should stop putting so much time and effort into that person who isn't worth it.
Little one's you are not the route cause of their behaviour, they can only change when they want to; so stop blaming yourself because it;s not your fault. I've stopped blaming myself, I've stopped crying and caring for that person, because you are so much better than them :).
If you have a fake friend in your life and they have not left, then leave then and give them a CLEAR explanation of why. That way they are not left in the dark, and they can reflect on their bad behaviour and change in the future.

Thank you for reading this blog post, I really hope this helped; I know for a fact that this would have helped me a few months ago; because I was going out of my mind. If you need any reassurance or comfort I am always here to talk to, you can use my social media below or personal email to contact me; whatever you are comfortable with :)
I love you all so very much and I will see you tomorrow morning with my first give away blog post :) Stay tuned and stay safe :) x x x

Advice-where it all began. Anxiety and depression.

How I ended up becoming depressed and anxious

Twitter:AmyRoseMcGuire
Email: missamymcguire@hotmail.com
If you want to have a little chat, or want to keep up to date with what I do daily, check out my social media platforms above and below this blog post :)

DISCLAIMER: This is going to be a very raw blog post, I will try and keep it as positive as I can, but as you can tell by this title there's no sunshine and rainbows. If you are easily upset, and can't stand these personal experiences PLEASE DON'T read this post.

Hello everyone. I never thought that I would be sitting here writing this blog post ... But I am. This is a very hard post for me to write, something I have always wanted to tell people but I never could. I'm still contemplating if I should be writing this; simply because I've dealt with these demons for years.
I have no idea how I'm going to start this blog post but what I will say is that it's a very long story, and it's not the nicest of tales. On the other hand, there are certain aspects that I can't explain or write in this post, simply because of legal reasons. No names will be named, I will refer to this particular person as 'he', 'it', and 'him'.

Where do I begin? I suppose I'll start from when I was younger, specifically 6 or 7. Apparently I was a very shy child, I wouldn't talk to people, nor engage with everyday activities in primary school. I kept myself to myself and that was it. I was scared you see, children screaming around the playground, acting like wild animals intimidated me. The fact that I was bullied for being so timid and dainty didn't help. They would point, scream and shout as they knew I hated it. I would cry in a corner and wish for it to be over. This is where my fear of people began to rise ... Growing up was difficult, my social interaction with people was non-existent. I would hide away and avoid all contact, my fear of people grew more and more. I didn't know that I was battling with anxiety, I didn't even know what that word meant.
Secondary School was utter hell. I remember my first day ... Oh what a first day it was. Coming face to face with thousands of students was terrifying. I remember crying as I entered the dull and frosty hall. I had warm and humble teachers either side of me telling me that "it was going to be ok". Their smiles filled me with hope. Until my first lesson arrived. I didn't know where to go, the fear of being late took over my entire body. Growing up, being late was seen as rude, being late was the ultimate betrayal, being late meant it was the worst first impression. With this in mind I scrabbled around school, trying to find my class. my heart was pounding, tears were pouring, my lungs on fire. I did was I knew best, I curled up into a ball and cried.
There were many days like this. And it only got worse. My anxiety grew, it started eating away at me, it became a demon in my own body. There were times I would have panic attacks, simply because I was too scared to order my own food at lunch. The fear of making people wait, for them to shout at me, for them to bully me ... It all got too much. I couldn't engage with people, something simple like asking what you want for lunch was too much for me.
The same applied to, putting my hand up to ask the teacher for something, or to answer a question. The fear of people laughing at my request, or the fact that I got an answer wrong was terrifying.
Throughout year 7 to year 14 I NEVER put my hand up. I was too scared, and to be honest, I'm still terrified, I'm heading to University in September and I don't know if I can shout out the answers.
Everyday simple actions was a battle for me. Even outside of a school ... I was too anxious to order food, I couldn't buy clothes as I didn't want to talk to the cashier person. Not that I didn't want to, bit I was too scared to. I didn't know how to engage in everyday conversation.
The people I spoke to were online, I could hide behind a screen and everything was OK. The few physical friends I had were super understating and patient. My best friend Eisha has been a god send, I've been friends with her for 8 years and we have never had an argument or fallen out; I consider her my sister.
My anxiety was something that developed over time, and was enhanced by a person in which I can't name, these are for legal reasons.
This person became my boyfriend of which took over my life for 2 years ... He's not in my life anymore (thank God) and these are one of the many reasons why my anxiety and depression got worse. I wish I could go into detail with how and why but I can't. I will briefly explain how he made my anxiety worse.
First and foremost I knew this person for 6 years, he was considered a really close friend; which is why I decided to make him my boyfriend; as I could trust him.
Slowly he made me feel small and pathetic etc. He did this by crushing my confidence, when I wanted to come out of my shell, for example, buying clothes, he would tell me that they would judge me; they would think I'm weird an strange for shopping there. If I bought items online he would say that I wasted my money, it was a pointless buy etc. This went on for two years. Within those 2 years the depression started to sink in. Having someone telling you are worthless, hurting you emotionally and physically brings you down ... Evidently.
Again I wish I could go into proper detail, but I can't.
He was awful and disgusting, so much happened, I don't think I will be able to write about it now, but I will try in a future blog post.
What I can say, is that he mentally abused me to the point where I thought I couldn't live without him, he would ignore me or days for no reason; I would try and see him and he would call me all the names under the sun.
As well as this he would give me all the attention and then take it away. He was the cause for my mental breakdowns, to the point where my dad has to rock me to sleep.
My depression was so bad I have tried to commit suicide, I self-harmed, I would not look after myself. I would not eat or drink, I wouldn't talk, I was nothing.
He took two years of my life, and I'm still trying to get over it ... It's been 3 years since that and I'm still scarred, I'm still not better.
After everything that he did mentally and physically I still have nightmares, I still have to go to therapy.
When I can talk about everything, and when I'm ready I will. I just hope that somehow this has helped someone, because you really aren't alone. I was lead to believe that my life wasn't worth living, I hit rock bottom and I'v managed to get on with my life. I passed my AS Levels, I'm heading to University in September.
If you want me to make a blog post on how I overcome these issues, please let me know.

Thank you for reading this blog post, sorry that I was late with this post. I was writing it yesterday and I broke into tears. I really hope this helps someone, even if it's just one person.
I love you all so very much, and you are perfect! If you are going though something like this right now, you are not alone! If someone is causing you this pain LEAVE THEM! I did and it was the best decision I have ever made! I didn't think I was strong enough, but I did it! If you have been though so much pain, leaving them won't make it worse, it will only make it better :).

Good morning Little ones! How are you doing? What are you plans for today? I know that I'm going to be writing a review later on! I can't wait to share it with you :).
Any who, I have decided to help people who want to apply for University; but first things first, your personal statement needs to be PERFECT!
In this blog post I am going to be:
  • Showing you how to plan your personal statement;
  • what not to put in your personal statement;
  • how to write your personal statement;
  • the rules and regulations;
  • my personal statement
    If you need help, or just need some inspiration, have a little look! I just really hope this helps :)
  • Also, I hope to make 'applying to university' a series. For example, later on I want to tell you my experiences with applying for student fiance, my first year at university etc.
If you want to read other advice on my blog, click here!

When I started studying my second year of Sixth Form (A2), they drummed into our minds the importance of applying for University, and that your personal statement had to be perfect! I remember walking into the hall, and before we were welcomed back into the new academic year; our head of year had a long and boring speech based on just personal statements ... Yes my summer was lovely; thank you for asking. But with this speech were just words, they went over my head; they didn't explain how to do it; they just wanted it done ASAP.
This meaning, we were alone, I knew what I was best at, and that was planning to the extreme.

TOP TIP NUMBER ONE:
PLAN

When it came to planning my personal statement I used various strategies. For example, when I needed a generic guideline I put the subject which I wish to study in the middle; which was Marketing, and placed hit words of why I wanted to study it. With this I branched out on the why, and started analysing this with: marketing articles, quotes from people in the marketing field etc. And used this valid piece of information and linked it back to the question of: why I want to study marketing, and why I am the best candidate for this course. ALWAYS have this question in mind or in front of you! MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS LINK BACK TO THE QUESTION! If you ramble out of track you aren't answering the question; which shows your university that you aren't right for that particular course.

WHAT NOT TO PUT IN YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT:

As much as you want to, and as much as I wanted to ... Don't use intricate language. I know ... It's painful. But you need to make sure that it's easy to understand and to read. Keep in mind that your university has to read thousands of these applications they don''t have time to read your fancy writing. As much as you think it will set a good impression, it won't, it will do the complete opposite.

DON'T PLAGIARIZER! I know it's a drag! Believe me I know you'd rather be doing your homework, but this needs to be done! Don't take the lazy way out and use someone else's personal statement! I have seen people doing it and their universities have turned them down! The sooner this is done the better! If you need to copy information, for example when I was writing my personal statement I needed quotes from famous marketing individuals, I referenced their quote. THIS IS OK TO DO! JUST REMEMBER TO REFERENCE ALL INFORMATION THAT ISN'T YOUR OWN.

HOW TO WRITE YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT:

When it comes to writing your personal statement, it should flow. You should know what to write, as you are writing about a subject in which you want to study; in some way shape and form you have an idea of what to write.
If I was to give any advice I would suggest to:
  • Write why you want to study this course;
  • why you feel you are right for this course;
  • where did your passion come from? Have you learnt about it before? Reading online?;
  • what extra reading have you done? (Use websites-blogs, books, personal experience-where have you been which links into your course?) For example, I went on a marking trip when I was studying media.
  • who has influenced you? Why does this impact your course;
  • what have you done outside of school, your hobbies, awards etc.
These key elements will be your guide, this will help you throughout writing your personal statement,
When writing your personal statement, make sure that it's short and snappy. Make sure you are always answering the question, and that you are to the point. You want to show your university of choice that you know how to write, and you know how to answer questions.

RULES:

  • Your personal statement has to be a total of 4000 characters, this includes spaces, commas, new sentence etc;
  • if there is any information that isn't yours, ALWAYS reference;
  • be 100% truthful, don't lie in your personal statement, your university DOES check!

MY PERSONAL STATEMENT:

I wrote this personal statement on my own, it took me a total of 4 hours with one attempt. This includes planning by the way! It normally shouldn't take this long, but I took my planning to the max! With that being said, after I gave it to my head of year I only needed to change a few words as they were "too complex". Which is why I mentioned earlier, that your language should be simple!
My personal statement was a total of 3840 characters with spaces! And was a total of 628 words.

Marketing and advertising Personal Statement-Amy McGuire:

Marketing and Advertising is unquestionably an influential part of civilisation. I want to study this course because it would enrich my knowledge, and give me more information and experience in the Marketing and Advertising field; and would help me gain a better understanding of my future occupation. My passion started for this course in my A Level Media Studies. Additionally a key strength I have would be the capability to work independently and research successfully. A perfect example would be, planning and researching for my EPQ which was based on historical and modern architecture.
Another key strength would be my ability to work well within a team. An example would be, in Business Studies we were set a task of selling roses, making a profit and giving that to charity. My role was to compare suppliers, select the cheapest and to advertise the entire project. I did this by creating posters and placing them around school. This gave me a better understanding of what Advertising and Marketing would entail, because creating various forms of advertisements (posters) is a must in this type of industry, especially when you have to engage the public eye. We all communicated with each other to make sure everything went well, and also helped our team by dividing the workload. We made a profit of £138.76 and gave it to The British Heart Foundation. Furthermore another key strength would be, my problem solving skills, for example when I was supervisor at Cargo I had to tackle issues which entailed: refunds, customer complaints, furniture orders etc. I had to use my knowledge and understanding of the business to figure out a way I would solve these issues on a regular basis.
What I’ve done outside of School includes: volunteering at The British Heart Foundation, attending my weekend job at Sainsbury’s, which helped me develop my organisation and communication skills, purely because I have to speak to people on a daily basis, and I have to organise my time wisely when at work so I know what tasks to do without overlapping. I also write a blog on how to deal with depression and anxiety, which have enriched my writing and analytical skills, in which I would need to be able to analyse Marketing and Advertising strategies. Within my free time I read around Marketing and Advertising, my main resource’s being: “Advertising promotion and other aspects of integrated marketing communications” (2013)-book by Shrimp, Terence A; Andrews, J. Craig. Another book I’ve read into is, “Advertising age: the principles of advertising and marketing communications at work”-by Thorson, Esther; Duffy, Margaret (2011). I found these texts significant because it gave me a detailed overview of what Marketing and Advertising was, the history of many advertising companies, for example Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), in which they help take down advertisements which are inappropriate. Furthermore I’ve followed Marketing and Advertising blogs, such as: AdverBlog and Seth Godin, only because they deliver new advice, knowledge and encouragement; especially Seth Godin. For example his main moto is “make something happen”, this is helpful for me because it gives me motivation to work hard in my studies and aim for a better future. But the information provided by him is good, purely because he’s giving his own view of what it’s like to be in the Marketing and Advertising industry, Only in the last 20 years have we seen marketing change”. On the other hand some of the material provided by him can be deceptive, he keeps it too brief. For example in one post he’s explains “The other element of guerilla marketing”, I would’ve liked it if he could’ve analysed the process properly, because I would’ve understood it more. Altogether I do find my resources extremely helpful, especially when preparing for university.

I hope this has helped you! I know that when I was researching on how to write my personal statement, coming across a good blog post really helped me. I hope this has the same affect on you! I also hope that you find it easy and less stressful; as I know going into your second year of A Levels is tough! If you don't already know and would like to know my Sixth Form experience click here!
If I can do it, then I know you can to!

I wish you a very good day! If you need to ask me any other questions about this or any other topic don't be shy! Talk to me on my social media platforms above or below this blog post!
I love you all so very much! See you later on today! Stay tuned Little ones <3 :D x x x

Hello my lovely Little ones! How have you been today? The weather in the UK has been beautiful! Sun all around. I have another vegan recipe for you, I hope you enjoy. If you want to find out how to make this meal, scoot your eyes below and have a little read:).

You can check out my other pasta recipe click here!

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams of freefrom pasta, I used 50 grams of penne and 50 grams of rotini, simply because I was running low on the two and had to merge two together;
  • Freefrom red pesto sauce;
  • 25 grams of peas;
  • 1 shallot;
  • 1 garlic glove;
  • chopped up coriander (optional);
  • salt and pepper;
  • extra virgin olive oil.
  • chili powder
Keep in mind, when cooking the pasta it can go from really hard to soft in minutes! So when you think it's nearly done to your required texture keep a close eye on it :).

STEPS ON HOW TO MAKE THIS:

  1. Boil 300ml of water and place into a medium pan, sprinkle salt and pepper and stir;
  2. put the pasta into the pot and stir; cook for 5-7 minutes;
  3. prepare the vegetables; cut up your shallots and garlic and place into a pan with extra virgin olive oil; along with the peas. Cook for 3 minutes;
  4. put chili powder in the vegetable mix and stir;
  5. drain the pasta and place back into the same pan;
  6. pour the vegetable mixture with the pasta and stir;
  7. add the red pesto sauce and stir; let it heat up for 2 minutes;
  8. plate up and sprinkle the coriander on top;
  9. ENJOY! :D

Why these ingredients?

Pesto:
Pesto is enriched with vitamins A and C, this helps boost your immune system, this will help fight infection, while keeping you fit and healthy. Whereas vitamin A is good is amazing for you eye health; it makes them stronger as well as being a great antioxidant.

Parsley:
Parsley has a huge amount of vitamin K, this helps builds bones and heals heart disease. in addition to this, parsley also has vitamin A, which as we already know is great for our eyes, and acts as a fantastic antioxidant.

Garlic:
Depending on how we prepare our garlic depends on how much nutrients we get out of it; this is why I have suggested either: cutting or crushing. This increases the enzymes within the garlic, these enzymes can prevent cancer.

Hello! Hope you are all doing well, I thought that it was about time to introduce you to my favourite vegan meal; this is what has saved me! It's super healthy and damn right delicious! I made this on the spot when I was super hungry and it goes well with the pasta I made here! I just hoped for the best. It turned out great! :D
It's really simple and easy to make, if you would like to know this secret, look below and create :)

Ingredients

  • 50 grams peas
  • 25 grams sweetcorn
  • 1 garlic glove
  • 2 shallots
  • chili spices or one chili (whichever you prefer)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 50 grams new potatoes (or whatever potatoes you want, I just picked these as they fit perfectly in my on-the-go tub)
  • Sabra roasted pepper hummus
  • chili sauce
  • Extra virgin olive oil
(You can make your own chili sauce and hummus, but I wanted to show you the simple way first, we don't want to make it too complicated yet) :)

With the measurements you don't have to stick to this exact amount, go by what your body is telling you :)

STEPS ON HOW TO MAKE THIS:

  1. Boil 300ml of water and place in pan;
  2. Put your potatoes in the pan and use the salt and pepper to season the water, (this leaves a subtle but nice flavour on the potatoes);
  3. Prepare you shallot and garlic, cut them up to the size you want;
  4. In a small pan, put boiling water in and place the peas and sweetcorn in there;
  5. Combine the garlic and shallots to the pea and sweetcorn mixture; add the extra virgin olive oil; chili spices, salt and pepper and stir;
  6. Place the vegetables into your desired container;
  7. Take out your potatoes and poke them with a folk, (they should be soft); drizzle the oil over them and shake in pan;
  8. Add the potatoes to the vegetables in your desired container;
  9.  Put the hummus and chili sauce on the side for dipping and flavour;
  10. ENJOY!

Why these ingredients?

Peas:
Peas are filled with Vitamin C, this helps build the immune system and makes it stronger over time, this will prevent you from feeling ill. As well as this, peas are also filled with B6, this will stimulate co-enzymatic activities, this entails protecting the immune system and having great effects on the metabolism, (speed it up).

Garlic:
Depending on how we prepare our garlic depends on how much nutrients we get out of it; this is why I have suggested either: cutting or crushing. This increases the enzymes within the garlic, these enzymes can prevent cancer.

Shallot:
Shallots is a great antioxidant, they also contain low fat saturation, this won't clog up your arteries, as it reduces cholesterol, in comparison to a normal red or green onion, this is so much better for your mental and physical health.

Thank you for reading this post, hope you enjoy and recreate, stay tuned little ones :) x x x
